It stands for the North American Aerospace Defence Command, and these are the people constantly watching the skies of the United States and Canada, providing advanced warning of impending missile and air attack.

But did you know that the technicians of NORAD also use their considerable talent to track the flight of Santa Claus? On December 24, these professional sky trackers, trained to spot any unusual flying objects, have their sights on the Santa entourage and are able to provide precise flight path information.

And what's even more fun is that NORAD set up a web site for anyone around the world who wishes to track Santa's wondrous flight from their own computer. Go here to track Santa. Information is available in 7 languages.

Of course, Santa doubters still remain, so NORAD goes to great pains to address suspicion by providing detailed information about the four high-tech systems used to track Santa – radar, satellites, Santa Cams and fighter jets.
