Map Prizes at SND Workshop
Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at 09:57AM If you are attending the Society for News Design Workshop in Las Vegas this week, be sure to get a ticket for the raffle taking place there. Besides lots of other great prizes, you might win a CD full of professional maps - or a book detailing the impact and purpose of maps throughout history!
Map Resources contributed a copy of Premier International, a collection of royalty free international maps - World maps, Globes, Continents, Oceans & Seas, World Regions. This comprehensive map set is a great resource for any news designer who wants a quick and easy way to add maps to their work.
For an intellectual approach to the concept of maps, there's a fully illustrated book, "Maps: Finding Our Place in the World", by John McCarter.
"Maps ... are a form of communication, a universal language that transcends speech and culture. If you thought maps were merely aerial drawings of places that help us get from A to B, you will astonished by the depth and breadth of this book." - Nick Smith, BBC Focus Magazine
