Use Map Color to Deliver Your Message
Thursday, October 2, 2008 at 11:57AM When it comes to map color, you have a tremendous amount of control over the appearance of your digital map. And this is important because color doesn't just contribute to the overall aesthetic appearance - it helps convey the information in your map effectively.
Think of the USA map with states color-coded red and blue to show political party affiliations - a tremendous amount of information communicated fast in one image. A very simple, but powerful way to deliver your message.
Our maps are carefully constructed to take advantage of the power of Adobe Illustrator's color editing capabilities. You can select area objects (eg. states, counties, countries) and color using "Fill", then further tweak the appearance by adjusting the "Stroke".
To become acquainted with Fill and Stroke as they pertain to digital maps, watch this short video tutorial.
